Just in Time for SMXX!

Welcome to the SMXgig blog - dragged kicking and ... well, just kicking into the future, just in time for the 20th anniversary of SMXgig. So, that makes it SMXXgig, eh?

What's SMXgig? What started as a one-afternoon safety seminar in 1988 by Mike Busch, John Frank and Tom Rogers, quickly grew to a weekend of aviation seminars, food, fun, and more food (even Oreos!) under their care. Once Mike got involved with AVweb in 1997, the volunteers stepped in to help, and here we are! Now attended by electronically connected aviators, it was originally peopled by Sigrats, denizens of the Web's oldest online forum: the Compuserve Aviation Forum, or Avsig. Avsig is still going strong, having survived the AOL-ization of Compuserve. Please stop by and say hey.

SMXgig is Spring Break for Aviators - if you like flying, like planes and helicopters, or even just like someone who does, you're welcome for a wonderful time that's become a must-go weekend for some really nice folks from all over the country.

SMXgig will kick off this Friday, April 25, and go through Sunday, April 27. It should be another terrific weekend. More to follow...

For this year's lowdown, please visit the SMXgig website.
And in the spirit of being completely prepared, please join us for the 21st SMXgig from June 5-7, 2009!
